Excellent. Install was a little different because you have to remove the mounting bracket for the conventional fan/heat-sink to install this low profile unit. It was a little unexpected but well worth the effort. My box was too tight for a conventional fan/heat-sink so this was a life saver. It works great, it’s very quiet, and it keeps my CPU cool. I looked for a while to find a good low profile heat-sink and this was the best of the best. Great product at a great price.

I have a core 2 extreme which would run the OEM fan on high all the time. I couldn’t find a replacement since my Mozart case is a low profile (1/2 height) design. Even the fan less alternatives were extremely tall. It fits perfectly on my XFX board, with just enough clearance around and about 2″ clearance in height. So hight is not an issue. You will want to measure diameter clearance. I am still amazed that it runs so silently when the Intel fan would just scream on high speed! Amazing quality HTPC niche product!

The construction is awesome (I haven’t turn it on so I don’t know how quiet it is). The price is right.

BUT it doesn’t fit in a mini ITX motherboard, at least not in a Zotac GeForce 9300 ITX. It is 1.5 cm wider than it should. The Intel stock fan is 9cm wide and this one is around 10.5 cm…Bummer. I should’ve open the HTPC and measure the Intel fan before ordering this one. But since it says “mini itx compatible” I bought it without checking.

Okay, maybe I should be more specific. This is a great fan for super low-profile cases that don’t generate a ton of heat and need to be silent.

I recently built an HTPC to put into my entertainment center. I bought all low power components to keep the heat down, and used the smart power function of my motherboard, but the stock CPU cooler was still spinning up around 5000rpm (trust me, I checked) under load and sounded like it was going to fly away. No need to point out that its not that pleasant to be watching a movie and listening to your CPU cooler scream away.

Enter the Meorb. I chose this cooler for its great ratings and because I found a review of it using my exact motherboard. If anyone is looking at buying a new cooler for their CPU, make sure you measure everything first, its not uncommon for coolers to interfere with cases or even RAM slots. After installation and power-up, I simultaneously streamed content from Hulu Desktop, Netflix On-Demand, iTunes, and Pandora Radio through Boxee. Then I sat right in front of my machine, watched the temperature monitor, and listened. The temp rose to about the same at it had using the stock cooler, slightly less, but the sound? Almost imperceptible, even with my speakers off. Moving back to my couch I couldn’t hear it at all! I can not tell you how happy that made me.

So all in all, I highly recommend this cooler if you have the same needs I did. Great product.
