Bizarre Fireplace Designs

wall-mounted-fireplace-500x380If typical fireplaces are too boring for you, then Swedish company Vauni may have something for you.  From wall mounted fireplaces, to rolling fireplaces, they have some very interesting designs to complement any modern living space.

All Vauni fireplaces burn liquid denatured ethanol, which means that no chimney is needed since the combustion emits only small amounts of carbon dioxide and water vapour.  This allows for some very creative installations and designs, such as the Divider, which looks like a glass box full of fire.

The Bentley Laptop

bentleylaptop3Nothing says luxury like a Bentley logo… so why not have one on your laptop?

The new Bentley Laptop from Ego features all the high end laptop goodies you’d expect from a high end portable, but a look that you certainly won’t find anywhere else.  Each unit is hand made and bound in the same leather used in Bentley seats.  The deflated egg shape is somewhat reminiscent of a purse, which may deter potential male customers.  This “portable” is also much larger than many of the other offerings, but then again… so are Bentley cars.

Toilet Paper Roll Hat

toilet-roll-hat-best-for-serious-sniffles-090208Don’t ya just hate it when you’re out in public, and you have to go the bathroom?   After frantically scouring the area looking for a decent receptacle, you throw yourself down on the toilet just in time… and then you realize there is no toilet paper.

Apparently that has happened a LOT of times to at least one Japanese inventor, Kenji Kawakami; enough to warrant a toilet paper roll hat anyways.  He has also brought us such amazing devices as the double-sided shoes and electric fork.

I think someone needs a new job.

Disguise your MacBook as an old book

BookBook-MacBook-Case_2Sometimes a simple idea can be a great one… and that’s just the case with this new MacBook cover.  It’s not every day you hear of someone stealing an old book…

Available in Classic Black or Vibrant Red, each one of these hardback leather cases are unique, and certainly look the part.  Each book is “distressed” by hand to give it that old look.  In addition, they have dual zippers with leather pulls and elastic straps so you can keep the case attached while using your laptop.  They are available in two sizes: 13″ and 15″ and are reasonably priced at $79.99 from TwelveSouth.

Toshiba Cell TV… 2D to 3D Upsampled Wireless HD?!?!

toshiba-cell-tvToshiba unveiled their new Cell TV at the CES 2010 show… and it was nothing short of amazing.  However, in today’s market, with the economy the way it is, only time will tell if people will cough up the dough for such an amazing time waster.

Turn your car into a tank

Turn your car into a tankCome on, admit it, you’ve been sitting in traffic at least once and thought, “How awesome would it be to have a tank right now?”

Well, your prayers have been answered!

With this amazing device, you can turn your car into a mini tank… well… without the armor.  It does however include a continuous tracked platform similar to a tank that should be more than sufficient to get you through even the worst snow storms.  Unfortunately, you must remove the wheels to attach it to the device (it would be so much cooler if you could just drive your car up onto it, latch it on, and take off!)

There’s a video from YouTube attached, unfortunately it’s in Russian.

Electronic Ear Dryer… yes, I said ear dryer.

dry_ear_ear_dryerDon’t you just hate it when you get out of the shower, and your ears are wet?  Yea me neither, but apparently it bothered someone enough to invent the DryEar Ear Dryer.  Simply slide the nozzle into your ear canal, and it blows hot air into your ear  (Insert head is full of hot air joke here).

Now, let’s just pretend for a minute, that wet ears really is a problem for people… do you think anyone would spend around $100 for this thing?

Did I mention the directions specify that you should towel dry your ears first?

Motorized Ice Cream Cone

motorized_ice_cream_coneTurning your ice cream cone can really be a pain.  No seriously, it must be… otherwise why would anyone design a motorized ice cream cone?

I can honestly say, I cannot remember a single time when I was eating an ice cream cone and thought, “Man, this would be so much better if I didn’t have turn this cone…”

How lazy does one have to be to invent something like this?

The good news, is that it IS dishwasher safe… because if you’re too lazy to turn your own ice cream cone, you sure as hell aren’t washing the dishes by yourself!

Store Your TV Remotes On Your Head?

remote-headWith the number of different home theater devices found in the average home, there is certainly no shortage of remote controls these days.  However, trying to keep track of those remotes can be a bit of a problem.  Now, thanks to the Remote Wrangler, you can keep track of all your remotes, and look like a complete moron at the same time!

Stick-On Fake Sunroof

Fake sunrooffake_sunroof_2I couldn’t find a whole lot of information on this one, apparently it was for sale on ebay motors, but I couldn’t find any current auctions for fake sunroofs.

What is the point of this thing?  Does anyone think sunroofs make you that much cooler that they would attach a fake one to their car?
